South Windsor Pavement Restoration Project

Starting on or after Monday June 21, 2021, the South Windsor Department of Public Works and contractor Palmer Paving Corp, will be repaving a portion of Wood Pond Road east of Fox Hill Road, Tallwood Drive, Wild Rose Drive, a portion of Nutmeg Road South from South Satellite Road to Governors Highway, South Satellite Road, Ident Road, Evergreen Lane, Beechnut Lane, Sycamore Road, a portion of Quarry Brook Drive from Ellington Road to a point east of Evergreen Lane, and two parking lots at the Police Department Headquarters on Sand Hill Road (generally in this order of construction). All work is scheduled to be completed by the middle of October 2021.

Many streets have already had catch basin tops replaced and repairs made to the drainage structures by Public Works crews and work will continue into the summer with assistance from contractor Environmental Services, Inc. The old pavement will be milled to remove 2" to 4" and then 2" to 4" of new pavement will be placed on these roads in 2 layers. Some streets will have curbing replaced and most driveway aprons will be removed and repaved. Finally, topsoil and grass seed will be placed behind the new curbing or other disturbed areas as a result of the work.

While this work is taking place, PLEASE do not park on these streets during the day or drive on the liquid asphalt tack coat that is placed on the road in front of the paving machine, as it will stick to and possibly damage vehicle tires and paint finish. One lane of the road will be open at all times but traffic delays can be expected during construction. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Jeff Doolittle or Jason Scott in the Engineering Department (860-644-2511 x344) weekdays from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or click here to email Jason Scott.
